I was an early adopter of the Roomba vacuum cleaning robots, and while the early models were loud and not always the best at their jobs, those negatives were outweighed by the convenience of not having to vacuum my floors. It’s perfect for those times you just need it to quickly clean a minor spill, or a problem area on the floor. It will confine itself to the small area until it is completely clean, and then can be put away until it’s needed again.
The navigation system is also brilliant on the new iRobot Roomba 880 Vacuum Cleaning Robot, and it can detect particularly dirty area and will correspondingly designate more of its time cleaning that area. This is apart from its programming that will guide it to clean the same areas multiple times, to ensure that that the entire floor is spotless.
And thanks to its Virtual Wall Lighthouses, it can clean up to three rooms, and will often push its way into confined areas that you think will be impossible for it to reach. It can clean carpets, hardwood, and everything in between and its programming ensures that they reach every spot at least once, and it will guide itself back to its docking station to recharge when it’s done.

Personal Experience
After dipping in the Robot Stockpile research fund, I soon found a brand new iRobot Roomba 880 Vacuum Cleaning Robot on my front doorstep. After unboxing it, I couldn’t help but think how similar its design was to the much earlier Roomba that I had owned years earlier. I was hopeful that this model would perform better than the first Roomba I owned did.
The product claims that iRobot Roomba 880 Vacuum Cleaning Robot is able to remove 50% more dust, hair and allergens with the new AeroForce Performance Cleaning System and Extractors. I can definitely put that claim to the test, since I have two dogs that shed more than a dead Christmas tree. It’s not unusual after hours of cleaning, to dejectedly watch as a dog hair tumbleweed blows by.
After setting it up, and letting it loose on the relatively clean main floor of the house, I was surprised at how quickly the full light came on. After it had been emptied and recharged, it went back to work again, tirelessly cleaning every last corner and crevice of my main floor. I can honestly say that after a few days of operation, I have never seen my floors as spotless as they are now.
And when it claims that it will reach every area of your floor, it really means it. Even areas where you’re sure that it won’t fit through, or it will miss, it always find a way to reach them. It will squeeze through chairs, and find routes around blocked areas until it reaches every area of your floor. That’s not to say that it won’t ever miss an area, but it is exceedingly rare.
Is it perfect? Of course not, but with this latest model iRobot comes close. The only really issue that I would bring up is that it sometimes occasionally struggles on ceramic or hardwood flooring. While this is a rare occurrence, it does occasionally leave small amount of debris or pet hair behind. It should be said that this is rare and may be a simple matter of it being blown aside as it cleans.

The iRobot Roomba 880 is an amazing cleaning robot, and I would highly recommend it to anyone new to Roombas, or someone looking to upgrade an older model. You will always have dirt and dust free floors when using this robot, and it turns a tedious task into something you don’t ever have to worry about.
